Q3A with Justina Jaruseviciute
Brueder Selke are delighted to share the stage with Justina Jaruseviciute:
Justina Jaruševičiūtė is a Lithuanian composer based in Berlin, Germany. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree on Sound Design and Engineering at Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and working for two years managing and organizing classical music concerts at Klaipeda Concert Hall, she relocated to Berlin, where she devotes herself entirely to composing ever since. In March 2021, she released her debut full-length album Silhouettes through piano and coffee records — a widely celebrated project that obtained glowing reviews around the world, was featured on the New and Notable section of Bandcamp, and made it to various editorial playlists across streaming platforms.
"[...] She began a conversation of her own, resulting in these exquisite works for string quartet. We are already skipping over composer to watch and going right to composer to hear right now." - A Closer Listen
"This masterpiece [...] is capable of making us dream, of making us tremble, but above all of keeping us going for almost an absolutely thrilling hour. It is of incredible strength and beauty and imbued with great sensitivity." - Mes Enceintes Font Défaut
“Silhouettes is an intense and elegant album, full of cinematic suggestions [...]. A first work that bodes well for the future because despite her young age, Justina Jaruševičiūtė is a mature musician with clear ideas.” - Radioaktiv
