Pre-Order The Grunewald Church Session
We are more than happy to share with you the preview of our upcoming reissue of THE GRUNEWALD CHURCH SESSION on oscarson.
Released in 2016 under our moniker CEEYS when the story began on 1631 recordings digital, we now have this beautiful handmade cassette release made by Matthias Rehling.
Pre-order starts from jan 14th ‘22 and release on feb 11th ‘22.
“Our studio album CONCRETE FIELDS is a remembrance of our childhood growing up in Europe`s largest Plattenbau landscape – Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Berlin, East Germany. In the last decade of the GDR the endless grey blocks of cold concrete, steel and glass communicate only anonymity and oppression.
On the other hand we started to learn our main instruments, cello and piano and we only dreamt of the day we could finally play chamber music together.
The first common classical concert we then performed in a church. After the fall of the wall and during the 90s the region kept a blend of an edgy feeling of departure yet vague melancholy and we tried to capture this in some compositions.
We are still very thankful to hold those early thoughts in chronological order and in the form of a live album before the studio album.
Now here is an authentically haptic form of our first full length release. In the late eighties, we used cassettes to make recording trials of various radio nights on a Stern-Recorder.
A big bow to Matthias and his lovely boutique oscarson for making this now a beautifully handmade physical package."
