Mabe Fratti at Q3Ambientfest

At this year's Q3Ambientfest at Kesselhaus // Waschhaus Potsdam we welcome Mabe Fratti.
She presents another OnScreen Performance with her unique way of creating inspiring sounds with the cello, effects and voice.

Mabe Fratti’s sensibility is the triumph of experimentation over technical dominion of an instrument. The experimentation of sound with feelings, with existence itself: with an open heart, letting herself to be transformed by what she lives and hears. This is what has led Mabe Fratti from her hometown Guatemala to Mexico City, from the academy to noise, from collaborations in ensembles and duos to the profound personal journey that is reflected when she plays solo, from the creation of songs to free improvisation, and from performances in stages like NRMAL to stages like CENART. That’s why Mabe’s music converts us to sensible sounding boards: through a hypnotic and captivating performance, Mabe sews contemporary elements like shoe gaze and art pop with ancestral influences that go from Gregorian chants to Sephardi music, transforming them in ingredients of a potent sonic ritual that causes a profound emotional impact. Moot Point (2018), Aprendiendo a Hablar (2018), Pies Sobre la Tierra (2019, Hole Records / Uheard of Hope), Planos para Construir and her recently released albums Será que ahora podremos entendernos (2021) and Let’s Talk About the Weather (2021) featuring Gudrun Gut are testimonies in studio of the immense sonic constellations that Mabe Fratti is capable of creating, either in solitary or accompanied by collaborators adding elements of free jazz, noise, spoken word and electronic music.
