Johannes Malfatti at Q3Ambientfest
At this year's Q3Ambientfest at Kesselhaus // Waschhaus Potsdam we welcome again Johannes Malfatti.
Together as a duo he will perform with Yair Elazar Glotman.
Johannes Malfatti is a composer, classically trained pianist, drummer and sound designer from Berlin. Over the years he has found a multitude of musical outlets: as a composer for film and theatre, in his solo work or as part of music projects, most notably with long standing collaborator Olivier Alary.
He has been part of Alary´s Ensemble (FatCats Records) since 2003 and has recently released the acclaimed “u,i” on 130701. He also released under the moniker요유시 yoyush on Japanese Vaporwave label Seikomart.
In his solo work, he focuses on contemporary and experimental techniques, often combining acoustical and electronic elements to create rich and slowly moving sonic environments.
Since graduating from the Filmuniversity Babelsberg with a Tonmeister degree in Sound Design for Audio-Visual Media, he has composed soundtracks for dozens of international feature films and stage productions ranging in style from electronic music to orchestral composition.
His collaborations include artists, musicians and choreographers such as Soundwalk Collective, Björk, Octet, Cat Power, Christoph Winkler, Zafraan Ensemble, Jeff Wood, Pfadfinderei, Laurie Young, Candice Breitz, Jim Rakete and film directors such as Laura Poitras, Yung Chang, Lucian Georgescu, Guy Édoin, Robert Guédiguian, Maxime Giroux among others.
