Flimmerkonzerte #8

Dear film lovers,

It's been a long time since our flicker concerts in the wonderful Filmmuseum Potsdam. To tide you over, here's an exceptional short film by the first female director Alice Guy-Blaché from 1912, the year the Titanic dealt with icebergs. This film, however, is not about icebergs at all, but has a topical reference to our current almost unavoidable situation.

Under the series title of the Filmmuseum Potsdam "Quarantine Cinema - Pandemic and Film", all those who are interested in the approximately 10min. Film time tomorrow from 19:30 starting before the news, can also have a look here.

Film plot: Winifred Thompson suffers from tuberculosis. The disease, known as the "white plague", can hardly be treated effectively in contemporary times, so her doctor Dr. Headley diagnoses her with imminent death - as soon as all the leaves have fallen from the trees. Her little sister Trixie takes this statement literally and reattaches the falling leaves to the trees in the garden with the help of twine, while Dr. Headley feverishly searches for an antidote.
