Austarda at Q3Ambientfest
At this year's Q3Ambientfest at Kesselhaus // Waschhaus Potsdam we welcome Austarda with a performance on screen in addition Brueder Selke
will perform a live improvisation.
Austarda is a multidisciplinary collective based in Quebec City, formed by Roger Cournoyer and Angélique Amyot. Sound and movement are the main paths through which they explore who they are.
Austarda derives its Latin origins from avis tarda ("slow bird"), commonly known as the bustard, a familiar synonym for the Canada goose. She is, among other things, a symbol of confidence, teamwork, communication and determination. Angélique and Roger value these essential elements necessary for artistic encounter and creation.
They are inspired by the environment in which they work to propose a singular and distinctive universe. In addition to performing in situ, Austarda proposes video, photographic, sound, literary, illustrated and printed works. They initiate collaborations with artists from various backgrounds (Sessions d'impro de l'Artère) and lead cultural mediation activities (Maison des enfants de Saint-Roch, Dansons Corps).
Born on the North Shore of Quebec, Roger composes, plays and records music for several artistic projects. Inspired by dance, film and philosophical works, his musical approach evolves where intuition meets sensitivity.
Angélique is a contemporary dance artist and social worker through dance. She values openness to others, intercultural marriage and the mixing of disciplines. Through dance, she wishes to transmit a message revealing the fundamental meaning of her own existence, culture and social reality.
